Trade Show Magic

Adding a magic display to your trade show exhibit

Imagine you are shopping on a busy street in your neighborhood. Let's say you'll be spending a while in the area looking at where you will be dropping in.

Some stores are on your must-visit list: places where you buy groceries, fruit or hardware.

Some you'll be visiting out of interest: maybe the local bookstore to see if they have the latest John Grisham novel; or the sports equipment supplier to check if your son's soccer shirt is on sale.

And some stops will be pure pleasure: maybe to try on that new top that you have no intention of buying, or to sample the latest blend of freshly-ground coffee at your local deli.

So there you are, feet weary, bags dragging on your arms, and suddenly, in front of you there is a crowd of people. As you try to push through you notice they're all watching a man in a bright red jacket and a green top hat.

From his hat he produces someone's watch and from an inside pocket the saucy lingerie that a viewer bought 20 minutes ago. As the crowd laughs bubbles start spewing out of his hat. "Ah yes" he says, "Bailey's Foot Bath Crystals. The finest treat for weary feet. Now 20% off for everyone here today." A young girl hands you a voucher for the perfume shop behind the magician and you're tempted…

Now imagine that street as the aisle of a trade show. Your potential visitors are out there. Some have appointments. Some will stop by to see you because they always do. Some may just browse by. But how do you set yourself apart from your competition in those anonymous rows?

Trade show magic is a specialized area. The performers are used to quick set-ups and breakdowns and the demands of working within a defined area – your booth space. They know how to draw attention to your trade show booth.

And, more importantly trade show magicians who specialize in this work know how to incorporate your message into their patter and performance. The best will work with you beforehand to develop a show around your message and your products. And some will even work with your staff to help them identify leads from trade show audiences.

One thing's for certain: nobody will be able to say that your booth was just like all the others.

Whether you're looking for traditional magic, street performers, trick shots, juggling or incorporating special effects into your trade show booth, there are magicians and other entertainers who offer what you're looking for.

Following are just a few of the many magicians and entertainers available to make trade show magic or other in-booth promotions an effective part of your overall presentation.
